Description

Alma Norte is the soul of the north. The Hanseatic people have always drunk rum, but until now they have never made it themselves. This is no longer the case with this delicious rum! Alma Norte rum is made from selected sugar cane molasses from Nicaragua, which is fermented in our Bremen distillery using a special fermentation process. No frills, just as it should be for a true northern light.

Once again, we have not put a small quantity from the 2024 production into barrels for ageing, but instead offer the rum as white rum. Only 50 500 ml bottles are available.

Sensory description

In the nose, our rum convinces with its intense fruit notes. On the palate, it tastes fresh and powerful and reveals both sweet and fruity notes.

Production

The extremely viscous sugar cane molasses is diluted with water and special yeast strains are added for fermentation. The process is carefully controlled to protect against acidity and oxygen. The distillation is done traditionally using both pot and column stills. This labor-intensive, double distillation in small copper stills and the careful separation of the "heart" of the rum preserves the flavors and results in a natural smoothness. A small amount of the rum is bottled as white rum instead of being aged in barrels. Only water is used to dilute the rum during bottling. No flavorings or sugars are added, and the rum is not blended or cut – it's just pure and simple. The rum is filtered using activated charcoal.
