The golden liquid, the white crown - sure, that's how we know beer. But who actually says that beer doesn't work just as well as brandy? Beer brandy - also called eau de vie de bière - is distilled from fresh beer. For our Hanseat 40.0, the "Hanseat 2.0" craft beer from Bremer Union Brauerei is used. A beer made from fine special malts and old hop varieties. In addition to its spicy malt aromas, these also give our Beer Brandy a floral note that rounds it off really nicely.
In the nose, this beer brandy has the typical note of beer, while floral hop notes and fine malt flavors await you in taste.
The beer is freshly brewed for us by the Union Brewery according to the German Purity Law and then distilled in our own brewery using the rough and fine distillation process. The elaborate double distillation in small copper stills and the careful separation of the "heart" of the distillate preserves the flavors and results in a natural smoothness. We do not add any flavor enhancers or sugar to our beer brandy, nor do we dilute or blend it. Only water is used to reduce the alcohol content during bottling, and the filtration is done using activated charcoal.
