Description
Beer as a brandy? Absolutely! Beer brandy - also called eau de vie de bière - is distilled from fresh beer. For this, we use the craft beer "Kellerpils" from Bremer Union Brauerei: a bottom-fermented beer with a slight cloudiness and a fine hint of hops.
Sensory description
- In the nose, this beer brandy has the typical beer note, overlaid with woody notes. Our cellar brand convinces with fine floral hop notes paired with a strong wood tone in terms of taste.
Production
The Kellerpils is freshly brewed for us by the Union Brewery according to the German Purity Law. The fresh beer is then fermented under acid protection and oxygen exclusion. Distillation is carried out using the rough and fine distillation process. The elaborate, double distillation in small copper stills and the careful separation of the "heart" preserve the aromas and result in a natural mildness. No flavor enhancers or sugar are added to our Kellerbrand, and it is not diluted or blended - only water is used to reduce it during bottling. Filtration is done using activated carbon.
