A milestone in our history: we are presenting a 10-year-old single malt whisky for the first time.
The limited edition VAN LOON Single Malt Whisky 10 Years | Portwine Finish combines handcrafted perfection with a unique cask maturation.
Piekfeine Brände has been producing single malt whisky since 2012. The earlier vintages with a Tokay finish have already been sold as 3-, 5- and 7-year-old bottlings. However, the 2015 batch was larger, allowing some of the whisky to mature for a whole decade. Its exceptional cask ageing initially took place in red wine barrique casks from German winegrowers and ex-bourbon casks before it was given its final flavor after five years in port wine casks from Portugal.
Its full body and complex, long finish make this fine single malt a very special whisky pleasure.
- The whisky impresses with its deep amber hue with ruby red reflections and a multi-layered composition of aromas. Notes of dark berries, figs and vanilla unfold on the nose, accompanied by dark chocolate and fine spices. On the palate, it impresses with a full, fruity and spicy structure, carried by ripe red fruits, caramel, chocolate, cinnamon and a subtle oak spice. The long finish leaves lingering impressions of dark chocolate and dried fruit.
The sweet wort made from regional barley malt is fermented with special pure yeasts under exclusion of oxygen and acid protection and double distilled. This elaborate, double distillation in small copper stills and the careful separation of the “heart” preserve the aromas and result in a natural mildness.

Only water is used for the bottling process. Bremen's drinking water is of outstanding quality. No flavorings or sugar are added, nor is it stretched or blended.
As flavor carriers such as esters, proteins and fatty acids are also removed during the filtering process, this leads to a change in taste. To avoid this “adulteration”, we do not use cold filtration. Our whisky is therefore unchill filtered or non-chill filtered. Filtering is carried out without pressure using cellulose.
